Smack Dab in the Middle of Texas Hill Country
Just about 23 miles from downtown Austin on US 290, Dripping Springs is known for its rolling hills, scenic rivers and creeks, and quaint downtown. You can climb a limestone cliff at Reimers Ranch, float in the turquoise waters of Hamilton Pool Preserve, or visit one of the many award-winning wineries in the region. Reimers Ranch Park
World-class rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing along 3 miles of the Pedernales River, and an observatory for sky-watching.
Hamilton Pool
The stunning Hamilton Pool was created when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago. Visit the aquamarine blue waters of this unique geologic feature. It’s so beautiful!
Pedernales Falls State Park
Sometimes a placid stream, occasionally a raging torrent. The Pedernales River flows around limestone slabs and is a great place to hike, swim, geocache, watch birds, and ride horses.
Austin Zoo
Everybody loves the zoo. Big cats, primates, reptiles, native Texas wildlife, and hundreds of others. See colorful birds and touch tame capybaras and tortoises in the petting corral.
Enchanted Rock
A dome-shaped, pink granite mountain that’s been attracting people to Central Texas for centuries. The creaking, groaning sounds of the rocks are the source of myths and legends.
Wimberley
You’ll find authentic Texas culture in nearby Wimberley as well as the Blue Hole, one of the top 10 swimming holes in Texas. Visit Jacob’s Well, the famous natural spring that hosts countless visitors each year.

Historic Fredericksburg
Known for its wineries, the city’s German heritage is on display at the Pioneer Museum, which features settlers’ homesteads and artifacts. In the nearby town square, the Marktplatz, the Vereins Kirche is a replica of a 19th-century German church.

Austin 6th Street
East 6th, West 6th, and especially Old 6th Street is famous for a reason. It’s the entertainment capital of Austin. Bars, restaurants, food trucks, and LOTS of live music.

Wine, beer, and cocktails in a Prohibition-Era themed building in downtown Dripping Springs. Children welcome! Big patio, live music, and great food.
Bell Spring Winery
This dog-friendly winery is a great place. Live music, food truck, and lots of space to sit outside. And of course, the small-production wines made of Texas-grown grapes are delicious.
Deep Eddy Vodka
Named for the oldest swimming hole in Austin, Deep Eddy offers authentic American-made vodka tastings on the pet-friendly patio. Kids welcome too!

Just up the road from Hamilton Pool, Family Business Beer offers 10 or more beers on tap, including Cosmic Cowboy IPA, the Grackle Imperial Stout, and Haulin’ Oats Brown Ale. Bring the kids for the ‘world’s greatest pizza’.
